4 Rom-Coms to Read While Social Distancing

The other day, one of my best friends, Claire, and I were talking about the types of books we wanted to read while social distancing. Both of us agreed that right now, we wanted pick-me-ups. I can’t handle anything sad or even remotely serious right now. Things are so uneasy and scary that all I want to read right now are delightful romances that will lift my spirits and bring me joy. My conversation with Claire inspired me to highlight a handful of my recommendations if you, like us, are looking for some joy and romance while social distancing!

I think romance is such an important genre, especially in times like these, because it’s all about connection. In what is an otherwise very isolating and alienating time, romances remind us of the importance of emotion and connection. Similarly, romantic comedies are all the more special because they make use of love and laughter—two of the greatest connectors to ever exist.

The following books are four of my favorites—they’re delightful, romantic, and perfect for those of you who want some love and laughter while social distancing!

The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams

The Bromance Book Club is a perfect read for social distancing because it is equal parts laugh-out-loud funny, swoon-worthy, and steamy. It’s perfectly paced and moves quickly while still delivering on the feels and romance.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

This book is pure joy in book form. It also has one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE couples of all time. Seriously, Alex and Henry are THE DREAM. It really has everything you could ever want and ask for from a book and it is infectious and lovable.

Well Met by Jen DeLuca

Well Met is perfect for those of you who love enemies-to-lovers because of the witty banter. Plus, you’ve got the added bonus of having banter between the main characters as themselves and as their renaissance faire alter-egos!

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

The Unhoneymooners is a fun, flirty, enemies-to-lovers rom-com that will make you feel like it’s summertime already! Also, You can’t go wrong with Christina Lauren. They’re the ultimate queens of romantic comedies and are a perfect writing duo that continue to churn out absolutely phenomenal rom-coms.

Have you read any of these yet? Or are you planning to read any while social distancing?

I received a copy of The Bromance Book Club from the publisher. This has not impacted or influenced my opinions.
