Mediocre is a very comprehensive, well-researched book that turned so many things that I had taken for granted as being part of "history" on their head. It is thought-provoking and resonant while still feeling accessible. I ultimately gave this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for a couple of reasons, the first being that I found the way it was organized to be difficult to track, and the second being that while I really appreciated this book I didn't love how Oluo brushed past and even seemed to excuse Representative Omar's comments about Israel as being subject to misinterpretation. It is absolutely possible to appreciate the good that elected officials do while also still unpacking the harm that their words can also do. ⁣

#TKAC2022 ✨ If you’re looking for a graphic novel to curl up with for spooky season, OVER MY DEAD BODY is it (thank you @epicreads for the gifted copy). Witchy, spooky, with dark academia vibes, this quick read is perfect for October. I wish the story had been a bit more fleshed out but honestly, the absolutely gorgeous illustrations made up for it and what was there story-wise was interesting and kept me engaged. Seriously though, the art is STUNNING and it’s worth reading for that alone! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this gorgeous graphic novel. Swipe to see some more favorite panels of mine!⁣

Some YA recs for #TKAC2022 ✨ if three of these look familiar from last year, it’s because I will never stop recommending CEMETERY BOYS, A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER, and ACE OF SPADES. And if you’ve been around for a while, you know my love for TRULY, DEVIOUS has spanned years now. That leaves the newest addition to this list: WHITE SMOKE and y’all…you have to read it. I am rarely creeped out by books or scared by them (movies are a whole different story though, I get scared all the time), but WHITE SMOKE gave me CHILLS and absolutely spooked me. I loved it! ⁣
